OK...OK...

You guys are sick of the winter. You are bored. You have cabin fever.
We are in the midst of a prolonged recession. Unemployment is high. The Fed may be raising interest rates.
The job outlook looks bleak and the Dept of Labor says that it may take 10 years to get the jobs back.

In case you have not noticed, classic car prices have been dropping for three straight years. Not much, but definitely trending lower.

I keep hearing that there are no bargains out there. The new younger guys I speak with say that they can no longer afford this hobby.

The younger guys say that the first and second generation cars are no longer affordable and are out of their price range. I say nonsense.

Am I crazy? Why?

Sure ... you can buy those overpriced trailer queens on eBay. You can buy those eye candy cars on Barrett-Jackson or Mecum.

But for 99% of the guys in this hobby, that is not what the car hobby is all about.

These are not investments. They are what we loved to drive in our youth. These are what we dream about restoring and driving today.

So I have decided to create a time waster for you guys. Just like the popular TV show TOP GEAR.

So I have started a contest to search the internet for a Firebird. You can use eBay, dealers, private sales, craigs list, etc.

THE RULES FOR FIREBIRD CONTEST ONE

Find a Firebird for sale. Not just any old Firebird. Here are the rules.

You need to find a Second Generation Firebird, Formula or Trans Am for sale for $2,000 or less.

The car must be running.
The transmission must work.
The car must be a second generation F body Pontiac built from 1970 to 1981.
The car must have a body, doors, working lights and windows...in another words the car must be road worthy.

Let's see how many Firebirds we can find. It is just for fun, so you have nothing to lose.

Hey... Hey...

I found a running second gen 1979 Firebird Formula for sale in western Kentucky.

The price is $2,000 and the owner says the price is negotiable.

I bet you can buy this running all original Formie for $1,500...

This one is a beautiful black solid 1979 Pontiac Firebird with a rebuilt 400 engine.

Wow.. nice car for $2000.

Located in Hillsvale VA. If it was closer I would buy it.

These are pretty good finds and a bargain for under $2,000. Nice job!

I am enjoying looking at these cars. Maybe someone will find the diamond in the rough...lol ...

Here is a nice second gen 1979 Firebird that runs.

It is located in Jackson Tennesee.

The price is $750. This is less than the cost of a new set of 4 tires and wheels.
