Tire Size on a 15 X 7 inch Wheel
What size tire would you put on a 15 X 7 inch wheel for a second generation Firebird?
Some guys that like a stock look use a 235-60-15 instead of the F70-14 Fiberglass Belted tire that came on the car. Some Firebirds were fitted out of the factory with 225-70-15.
Most cars that I have seen go with a 235-60-R15... they look real classic in the wheelwells on second generation Firebirds.
I think a lot of it depends on the front suspensions condition, ride height, etc.
The 255-60R15 may give you wheel well clearance problems when you make a hard turn.
I think that most people like the look of the 60 series tire on the car.
The 60 series tires have a wide tread and road patch foot print.
Most of the cars I have seen at cruises put 235-60R15 on the front and 245-60R15 on the rear.
On my 1978 Trans Am, I put 245-60R15 on the front and 255-60R15 on the rear because I have the wider WS6 wheels. But I also have a slightly higher ride height than stock, since I like the look.

Larry I total agree with you. I run 235-60-15 on my Trans Am. I have ran the F70-14 Fiberglass Belted tire. But they are like riding on bricks and they have NO grip when the road gets wet.

Re: Tire Size on a 15 X 7 inch Wheel
I have used the 255-60-15R tires on the back 15 inch Rally IIs on my 1970 Trans Am with no problems.
But not on the front, just the 245-60-15R tires.
Now, I don't even have those rims on my car, since the JWs are going over $2,000.00 on ebay.
I park my car outside now, so no way will I give anyone a chance, on taking those from me.

Oh,
Uh, did I say that?
I meant 200 dollars.
Want to sell your set for 200 dollars?
I've seen some go for up to 3 grand!
I even have my spare tire (original tire too) mounted on my 5th JW wheel.
