A true MUST attend Event
I received this from Rick D. So put it on your Calendar NOW.

RE: PONTIAC CELEBRATION 2012
Once again, on behalf of the Celebration Committee, I would like to thank for your support of our 2010 Celebration. Since September, we have received additional donations for both The Tomorrow Fund and Alexis’s Lemonade Stand, bringing the total raised to over $8000.
I also wanted to share with you what we have done since the show. Most importantly, we have booked the Crowne Plaza Hotel for the weekend of September 21 to 23, 2012 for our next Celebration. The format will be essentially the same three day format. I was able to negotiate with the hotel for only a modest increase in the room rates and roughly the same cost for the BBQ and breakfast and I will have more flexibility in selecting the menu items.
Many of you participated in our survey where we asked you to help identify areas where we could improve the show. While the great majority of those that answered were completely happy with the show, two areas that needed attention were the classes and the concession stands.
We tried to minimize the number of classes to maximize the amount of money that we could donate to the charities. This worked except for a couple of classes, specifically the GTO and FB/TA. We expect to expand these for 2012 while maintain our goal of minimizing expenses. The trick will be to keep everyone happy. I also discussed our concession concerns with the Crowne Plaza. We discussed the menu items, the hours of operation, location etc. They agreed with the issues and are committed to make it better.
We have several other areas that we are working on to improve the show and make it an even better weekend.
As of now, put the Celebration on your 2012 calendar. I will send more updates as I have them.

Well I’ll bring a spare Fuel Pump, Alternator, Battery, Distributor, Jumper Cables, DC Powered Compressor, and Tools. Maybe we can start a list of what everyone will be bring. So we will know in advance if we are missing anything.
Re: A true MUST attend Event
Rick,
You know my opinion about driving 35 year old cars for long distances... Be prepared.
If you don't know how to wrench then bring a big roll of cash for the tow truck and repairs.
Coil, Distributor cap, rotor, points, Fuel Pump, Alternator, Battery, Jumper Cables, Compressor, spare tire, belts, hoses and Tools.
Even with such a list I still broke down on Route 9 a few years back coming from a show.
The left front spindle went and took out my front brakes too.
Re: A true MUST attend Event
I can remember two recent events when our Charter Oak Firebird members helped out other guys in other clubs in an unselfish way.
When Jim from the Dream Machines Car Club broke down at the Mallon Chevrolet Car Benefit Show with a bad coil (no spark) I drove him to the local NAPA store and we helped him get his 1968 Plymouth running again.
And another complete stranger saw Rick H. broke down on the highway with his 1971 Trans Am with a flat tire 50 miles from home. Not only did the guy stop to help but he loaned Rick a spare tire for his Trans Am to drive the rest of the way home.
And he had not ever met Rick in his life...
That is a true Good Samaritan.

Re: A true MUST attend Event
Last year both Rick and Nap had trouble with their cars at this event. I will tell you watching all the guys pull together to help was a huge boost for me. I have not felt that sense of community in years.
Hey for all the problems we should all feel good about this hobby. If it is my turn to break down this year than so be it. It looks like I will have friends to help out.
Harry had a good list last year for equipping your car with some vital supplies. I actually used some of my spares helping others out. Larry, join the pack for a good cruise, there is safety in numbers.
