Would like to hear your suggestions as to what might be the cause of this problem.

Sometimes after waiting at a stop light when I start to go the car acts as if I’m in neutral. I have to rev up the engine and then it will shift HARD into low. This doesn’t always happen. I would say 1 in 5 times. Once in gear no other problems. No slipping, shifts and down shifts normally

Rick,

Did you ever solve this shifting probem in your TH400 transmission?

Other than a complete rebuild, have you cleaned out the fluid, filter and pan, filled with new fluid?

I have tried a product from Lucas Oil for transmission problems. Its an additive.

I have used it in my 700R4 automatic in my 1987 Trans Am with good results.
