Where have all the birds gone? Empty Where have all the birds gone?

I pop in occassionally and noticed how little is going on here. Where is everyone? Where have I been, you say? I can't believe how busy my family has been keeping me.

The Pace Car is still in the garage unable to do more than 45 mph. I think it is the ECM that controls vacuum advance because the engines really gasps when the turbo should be kicking in with some boost. I gotta tell ya, I still love the sexy beast and I can't wait to get her going again.

I don't know if any of you got the message from Tom Smith but it looks as though our beloved Saratoga show is now just a pleasant memory. Tom is selling his Firebirds and is planning on retiring and moving south. It doesn't look like anyone is stepping up to take over so the Firebird Nation club will now be dissolved. I am heart broken. That was the best show by far. I wish I could do it but I am not sure I would begin to have the talent, drive, or energy to pull it off.

China just launched an aircraft carrier and started a space program where our\s just ended. I have to say WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!!!! The world is turning upside down. With lunatics shooting poor kids in Newtown, CT, the end of the world predicted for 12/21/2012, the fiscal cliff, and hurricane Sandy I am not sure I can get up in the morning without the Firebird hobby to keep me going.

Where are we all

Where have all the birds gone? Empty Re: Where have all the birds gone?

Post by Brother Al Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:10 pm

Steve, not sure what happened, but Im keeping the torch lit just the same & I try to add articles when I can. John approached me about bringing on the. Pioneer Valley GTO Association and Im for it, but Ive not heard from the GTO guys yet... sooo... prior to that, I was contemplating adding a Fiero Section and other Pontiac Models on a platform by platform listing... time will tell. This all said, we do get some pretty fair numbers on here viewing, but not many have joined the site. Ive gotten a lot of hits on the 3rd Gen Section stuff that I added though.

As for the Saratoga Show, WOW! Crying or Very sad I did not hear that... that REALLY sucks!

I agree Steve, the world, and our country, has become a strange place... things that we once prided ourselves upon, have been relegated to the scrap heap and sold for pennies by the pound... China has quite literally built their whole economy, infrastructure, national treasury, and military from the deterioration of ours.

Where have all the birds gone? Empty Time to get to work

Post by Steve Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:30 pm

I think we need to get to work to get the Bird's nest back to its glory and get the PVFA going. I lost momentum with my car problems, very discouraging. I will work on it.

Was it John Campbell? I think I emailed you about him joining the club. I never heard back from him but I emailed him asking if he was at the show.

I will give you a call about the goody bag. I want to see our ad. I take my daughter down to Extra Innings once a week so I will be in the neighborhood.

How is everything? We need to get a club meeting together, or perhaps a holiday party in January.

I haven't seen anything for George. We had one member sign up but when I emailed it got bounced back. It was a military email address.

What do you guys think about doing a party?

I think it would be a great idea.

Are you are thinking for a PVFA event or a Bird's Nest event?

Over at NECF, I usually put together one in January. Traditionally I have tried to keep it at a location near Worcester because of its central location to the membership of that site. If that sounds like a plan, I have a couple suggestions...

A.) Tri-State Speedway. Its a nice family fun place, with an indoor arcade with an indoor race kart track. the track does require everyone to get a license for liability purposes, but its pretty cheap. There is a restaurant and alcohol is served in the bar area. Its fairly cheap considering what we'd pay elsewhere.

B.) Try and combine efforts, both NECF and The Bird's Nest... we have members that visit both sites anyway and I'm of the mindset that "The more the merrier!"

The Tri State Speedway looks really cool but is leagues away from the Pioneer Valley. I am going to come up with some ideas. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi Steve, wasnt sure if you meant PVFA or central to New England. Unfortunately we dont have anything like that here... but perhaps we could go to saw Texas Roadhouse in Springfield or perhaps that new Pirate place in Agawam?
