New Bird In The Nest
my wife and I went a picked up her new ride tonight. there's a little rust, but it came with every thing it needs.
how do you guy feel about a 68 bird?
it came with / quarters, fenders, doors, tail panel, full floor, trunk floor and inner wheel fenders. all new and some of it OEM GM
the bad

Re: New Bird In The Nest
Nice find. It is getting harder to find a first generation project these days.
Just fifteen years ago this car would have been put out as a parts car. Now these cars are being saved and restored.
This looks like a former 1968 Verdoro Green Sprint Six car. It has the standard interior and has at least two of the Rallye II wheels. Did you get any paperwork with it or have you run the VIN number to see how the car came from the factory?
What motor and transmission were you planning on putting in this Firebird? Do you have a motor now?

That's going to be a Great project. We already know that the body work won't be a problem for you. So start the project and keep the pictures and updates comming.

is a #'s 350 car. the only thing is the front nose is for the 68 400 bird. the 350 didnt have the emblem or the bar in the grilles.
its a 223378 vin a auto 350 firebird YJ 350 block , power steering, manual brakes. 265hp
I was told it had deluxe interior. so I told Lori to send off for the PHS for it.
it is a 68 built is 67 most of the date codes on it are late 67 the vin is in the very low 8000 ( 108xxx ) of 50,006

Re: New Bird In The Nest
here is a few pic
lori came down to the shop and did some work on it . she took the column and pedals out.
here is the trunk pan. all the hangers and shock towers on it. as long as they fit , they should work nicely
pics of bracing and more cutting.

Dam not much left of the original body. But I can already tell you have every thing under control. If you run into any problems. Please tell show us how you managed to over come them.

Detailed pictures would be Great.

Well I can tell you it's just like a big puzzle. only U.S. and China puzzle pisces dont fit together well
when you get ready to kick it , just walk away from it. figure on a long day per quarter.

Thats not a 68 Firebird...thats a pile of parts!

Re: New Bird In The Nest
One good thing about the First Gen. You can get all the body parts. Not so true on early Second Gen.
