added another bird to the nest
it a 73 formula 400. still needs a little work. but the price was right. and I've always wanted a 70/73 formula.
here is a few pics from emails. I pick it up Sat 30th
I'll post new pics ASAP.
also got a set of restored rally II's from another guy, for the 73

Re: added another bird to the nest
Hey Doug,
Nice find. This Formula looks like it is in great shape.
I have always liked the 1970 - 1973 Formula styling.
Is the 400 motor original to the car? What kind of transmission does it have?
Re: added another bird to the nest
he tells me is a #'s correct bird. I'll check that first thing.
it's a 400 th350 auto , I want it to be a 4speed but if it's #'s I'll keep it as is (maybe). once the 77 is done I'll start on this 73.
the front end will come off ,
replace the gas and brake lines, and bushings,
restore the engine bay,
paint the engine, put the correct intake and carb on it ,
add the ram air air cleaner
and all the interior replaced with new.

Re: added another bird to the nest
As much as I love the 1970 -1973 Trans Ams. I thank the Formula Hood is the best hood Pontiac has ever done.
Re: added another bird to the nest
the louvers on the true ram air hood were glassed in (but could still see them)
you could see all the sand marks in the hole car (it was bad) looked like 80 grit.
the rear left side frame rail had a 3 finger hole in it buy the spring cup.
the lower quarters were patched over
the trunk drops were cut off ( gone )
the dash corners were filled with filler.
the right side fender was a hard to find one year 71 (?) fender with the louvers filled in ( and the wide bar brace wouldnt work on it.)
listed as a non a/c car , but it was a a/c car with no a/c
was not #'s maching 74 400 ( but ran very good)
was listed as no rot in the floor, (then why was there a ton of silicone all over it?)
the lower right front quarter had a rust blister
but I did buy the other ram air hood he had for 80.00, it needs a little glass work
it was truly a wasted 5 hr trip. I did offer him 2500.00 for it , but said no.

Re: added another bird to the nest
Sorry that it wasn't as advertised. The pictures made it look Good. But I know what "the lower right front quarter had a rust blister" problem can lead to. I just hope the person that buys this car has the time to check it out and truly knows what he is getting into.
